Has anyone conducted onsite examinations using a mobile testing site such as a mobile trailer? Would the outside noise interfere with conducting a proper exam? Has anyone used a converted camper-trailer? I'm interested to hear the pros and cons.IP: Logged |

BrunswickT,while I have never conducted testing in an actual trailer, many of the sites I tested in might have well been inside one. Outside noise is always a concern and in my experience, it always annoys the examiner much more than the examinee. One place I used to test (and knowing the Army, they still do) in a quonset hut 75 feet from an active helipad. While the voice tone needs to increase when being drowned out by rotors, it never seemed to effect the results of the test or my ability to get the examinee to concentrate on me. If given the opportunity to run testing in a trailer, I would simply try to place it in a noise reduced area. I'm sure it can be done. Others may differ in opinion. Jim IP: Logged |

I know of an Examiner in Columbus Ohio who is now retired that tested for several years in what could only be described as a 1st class RV----no amenities spared. He served coffee to examinees, he parked in parking lots that were both conveniantly descreet and empty, and he was very pleased with it----especially given the fact that in his 60's, the vehicle was a complete Tax write off and he and his wife would use it as his vacation mobile. I always thought driving those damn bulky things would get a little tiresome and expensive though. They are not very useful in an urban area. My opinion though.

Yeah, but if its not a first class RV, then you better be careful.Raise your voice in some aggressive interrogation, and that there trailer starts a-rockin, and onlookers are going to think its a domestic. r

Very true Ray. I always thought the set up was a little unsafe....but then again....3 of my 4 rented office testing locales were empty buildings that were creepy enough when testing latin kings, vice lords, gangsa disciples, and yes....even the occasional Catholic Priest. To make matters worse, you should see how poor of a shot I am with a snub nose .38.......I couldn't hit a piano with that gun if I were seated at the player's bench![This message has been edited by stat (edited 02-02-2008).] IP: Logged |

I personally would not use a traveling trailer. Then again, I haven't tested someone at a hotel either. I keep my overhead costs down by traveling to the sites that require the poly to conduct the examination. I conduct tests at PO offices, therapist offices, LE agencies, Armored Car Companies, EPPA exams at the company.... Occassionally I have to rent an office space. This has worked well for me with my suitcase on wheels. Due to my location the testing sites are mostly within 20 miles of my residence...too convenient! Plus I like testing prob/paroles at the POs office just in case the subject needs to be arrested. IP: Logged |

Testing in an RV is Great, my rent in Manhattan is high. The noise level on 42nd St & 8 Ave is off the charts I have tested in RV"s, hotel suites were the room charge is $1,500 per day, basement of fast food establishments, fishing piers, ships at sea, drug warehouses, private homes. It's your RV you can have more control of the test, but parking in Manhattan is a real experience.------------------

LOLImagine taking a left on 31st and Broadway in a 32 ft house boat---smiling and waving to all of the bird-flipping enraged commuters through the big handsome windshield. Seems like you would need an Ambassador's Motorcade to flag you through! lol ------------------ " When I die I want to go peacefully like my grandfather, not yelling and screaming like the passengers in his car...." Whether you use a trailer or not, use the Bose Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones to diminish outside noise and the computer generated voice system to generated (ask) your questions during the in-test. Doing so will maintain a consistent voice level (avoiding any inadvertent inflection).------------------ Warmest regards, Elvis Acosta President/CEO Eagle Resolutions & Resources International, Inc. and subsidiaries Toll-FREE Phone/Fax: 888-351-9051 >FREE> Subscribe to the "Tradecraft" newsletter and receive monthly tips and advice from private investigators, polygraph examiners and tactical firearms instructors in the field.
